## A decision you can inspect

**Keep the reason. Question it next time.**

A real example from open-why's public code. The next action is illustrative,
not a measured customer outcome or a live retrieval.

1. **Ask:** Why use an online backup while the database is open?
2. **Inspect the record:** The documentation explains that SQLite's online backup
   includes committed changes still in the write-ahead log.

   A regression test restores a backup and checks the record and its identity.

3. **Apply your judgment:** Changing the backup code? Check that it still preserves
   those committed records. The earlier decision gives you a constraint to test,
   not an answer to obey.
